Bart de Bruin – Quality Engineer
I really enjoy having the flexibility to travel with work and that’s why I joined OpenHydro. Being able to experience new cultures, while meeting our clients and internationally based suppliers really appeals to me. Having the opportunity to travel has enabled me to adapt to international standards, improve my stakeholder management skills and ultimately progress in my career.
Isekhua Evborokhai – IT Systems Analyst
OpenHydro is a fun place to work. The company encourages staff to participate in sports and social activities that foster a healthy team spirit. The social committee, run by employees, arranges a host of events throughout the year including cake sales, picnics at the local Port, kayaking, running, rock-climbing and pilates. Weekly lunchtime football also creates an opportunity for team building and is one activity I always look forward to.
Tommy Storey – Graduate Engineer
I am really enjoying OpenHydro Graduate program. It has been a great opportunity for me to work with different teams on various projects. I have gained ample amounts of experience so far. OpenHydro has kept my professional development and personal progression a priority through Engineer’s Ireland training programs and other courses. I am continually challenged to achieve more.
Kelly Matthews – Senior Structural Engineer
With my background in the aerospace industry and now having moved into the renewable energy sector, it is encouraging to see the number of women in high-profile engineering positions today. No doubt the next generation of leaders in the industry will comprise an even greater percentage of women and I look forward to being part of that. OpenHydro is at the forefront of a field of emerging technology on the global stage. The company has a strong focus on learning and development, and supports all its engineers through Continued Professional Development and accreditation with Engineers Ireland. It also provides ample opportunities to challenge and improve your engineering skills on a daily basis.
Augustin Couchoud – Mechanical Design Engineer
I joined OpenHydro on the Graduate Development Programme in 2013. Working in the mechanical engineering department I quickly developed a specialised role in the design team and became responsible for developing anti-corrosion systems on the turbine and new components on the rotor and stator. As a graduate, I participated in a series of training sessions with Engineers Ireland which helped my transition to the workplace. I particularly benefited from the technical training on offer internally to engineers including Solidworks, Ansys, Tolerancing and GD&T.
Andrea Swift - Office Manager
Open Hydro encourages all employees to vote for our chosen charities on a yearly basis. There is a huge focus on local charities and I like that they vary each year. As employees, we are given all the support we need to facilitate regular fundraising events and I love how it brings us together as a team - knowing we are really making a difference over the course of the year.
