Cape Sharp Tidal planning the deployment of the second tidal turbine in the Bay of Fundy for the first half of 2018.
Cape Sharp Tidal, a joint venture between Emera and OpenHydro, will continue with upgrades on the second 2MW turbine for the Bay of Fundy tidal project with a focus on improving efficiency and reliability.
The turbine, which was removed from the Minas Passage in June this year, following its successful deployment in the Fundy Ocean Research Centre for Energy (FORCE) in November 2016.
The work is ongoing, however with the approaching winter, the company has decided to delay redeployment until 2018 when both weather and tidal conditions are more appropriate for marine operations.
